Great read … not only motivating to move to God’s call, but stirring encouragement for the called.
In Unleashed, Erwin McManus presents the idea that believers in Christ are called to live a life of unbridled passion for the cause of Christ. That cause manifests itself uniquely different in the life of every believer. But one common theme is that we are to follow Christ with abandonment to our comfortable lives. Through the dialogue of real life examples, McManus illustrates what this “barbarian way”, as he has become known to call this life of passion, can look like.
I unreservedly recommend this quick read to anyone struggling with questions regarding living the Christian life. It not only motivated me to persist in my journey as a true believer and follower of Christ, but also confirmed the call to action in my own life on behalf of my Savior, Jesus Christ. McManus implies that God does not call believers to a “civilized” life of safety. Many biblical examples are of lives filled with pain, suffering and sacrifice. Through these examples and more, God shows us the best path – His path. Living a life inside God’s will is not necessarily the “safe” path, but it is an abundantly good path, filled with life to the fullest.
